Agilix Labs to Support Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 With New Releases of Its Developer Solutions

Agilix Labs to Support Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 With New Releases of Its Developer Solutions

OREM, Utah and LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Agilix Labs, Inc., the leading provider of mobility software solutions for the education market, today announced that two of its upcoming releases will provide full support for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005.

In addition, Agilix updates to Agilix InfiNotes and the beta version of the Agilix GoBinder Software Developer Kit (SDK) software development tools will be made available at the public release of .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005.

Agilix InfiNotes is a set of software controls which are installed into the Visual Studio Toolbox to add ink note-taking features to new and existing .NET applications. Agilix developed InfiNotes in conjunction with the Microsoft Tablet PC team to accelerate the development of applications for the Tablet PC platform.

There are, however, two versions of Agilix InfiNotes. The InfiNotes Standard Edition provides Microsoft Journal-like functionality and is available license and royalty free. The InfiNotes Professional Edition includes state-of-the-art note-taking functionality and is available for a one time license fee per developer with no royalties. The Professional Edition includes all the rich note-taking functionality of Agilix GoBinder.

The Agilix GoBinder SDK is a software developer toolkit that enables .NET developers to extend the functionality of Agilix GoBinder, a mobile learning application for education built on the .NET Framework. With the .NET-based GoBinder SDK, developers can build smart clients for offline information access, as well as plug-ins to connect to online learning sources, extend collaboration with other peers and add new student learning capabilities. In addition, the SDK enables developers to build extensions to use Agilix GoBinder in other vertical markets. The GoBinder SDK is expected to be released at the end of 2005.

"Agilix is excited about the new release of the .NET Framework," said Curt Allen, Agilix president and chief executive officer. "Our new development solutions released this year are built on top of the .NET Framework. We want to insure that developers that leverage our SDK and developer tools will be able to take full advantage of the rich new functionality in .NET 2.0."

Both Agilix InfiNotes and the Agilix GoBinder SDK beta support .NET Framework 1.1 and Visual Studio 2003 today. Once .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005 are publicly available, Agilix will release new versions of InfiNotes and an updated beta for the GoBinder SDK. The new versions of Agilix software will allow developers to use Visual Studio 2005 to leverage the new .NET 2.0 functionality in any .NET supported language, such as Visual C# and Visual Basic .NET. In addition, Agilix will provide backwards compatibility so that developers can continue to use Visual Studio 2003 with the new releases of both development tools.

Makovsky + Co.'s Gil Bashe to Receive Elias G. Stratis CASTLE Award From Fairleigh Dickinson University

Makovsky + Co.'s Gil Bashe to Receive Elias G. Stratis CASTLE Award From Fairleigh Dickinson University

Award commemorates accomplishments of FDU alumnus

TEANECK, N.J., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of his accomplishments and activities as an outstanding alumnus of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Gil Bashe, executive vice president, Health Practice Makovsky & Company, is the 2005 recipient of the highest award the Alumni Association presents, the Elia G. Stratis CASTLE Award.

The Alumni Association will honor Gil Bashe for his years of outstanding service and loyalty to the University in ceremonies on September 19, 2005. To receive this award, an individual must have made significant contributions to the University or have served with distinction in University organizations.

In all his endeavors on the part of the University, he has used his professional skills as a communicator -- allowing all views to be heard and considered. Bashe was able to bring differing views to the table in search of common ground while being an outstanding advocate for truth. Gil sums up the guiding philosophy of his career with the statement: "Communication enables health advances to make their biggest impact by connecting patients' needs with physicians' desire to heal."

For four years, he provided strong leadership as he chaired or co-chaired the University's largest fund-raising activity, Charter Day. Bashe brought together corporate and community leaders and worked toward providing access and financial support for students through the Charter Day Scholarship Fund.

He has served with distinction on the University's Board of Trustees. As a member of the Board, he led the University Advancement Committee. Bashe's chairmanship was marked by his strong commitment to support and encourage University staff in their fund-raising efforts and fellow trustees in their fund-raising responsibilities. After turning his energies to the Educational Affairs Committee, he never wavered in his enthusiastic dedication to strong fund-raising.

Bashe is a magna cum laude graduate of FDU with a major in philosophy and the humanities. He was inducted into The Pinnacle in 2000, a high honor for alumni of the University.

In the wider community, Gil is chair of the New York American Heart Association, the Association's flagship chapter. He is a co-editor of the book, "Branding Health Services: Defining Yourself in the Marketplace."

He was listed as "one of the top 'brains' in the new world of work" by Fast Company magazine, and cited in Creating Covenants: Healing Health Care in the New Millennium as a "healer" for his recognition of the vital role communication plays in medicine as exhibited during his service as an airborne combat medic.

His professional contributions and accomplishments are equally impressive. Prior to joining Makovsky & Company, Gil served as senior public affairs and health policy counselor to health associations and biotechnology, dietary supplement, medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

In 1999, he launched Health!Quest Global Communication Partners, obtaining $60 million in support from GTCR Golder Rauner, one of the nation's largest private-equity firms. He continues as a limited partner in GTCR Fund VII.

Gil was formerly CEO of CommonHealth, the health-marketing consortium of WPP Group, having served as its vice-chairman for strategic planning. At sister-company Hill and Knowlton, he was executive vice president and worldwide director of the Health and Pharmaceutical Practice. Prior to Hill & Knowlton, Gil led a specialist healthcare communications firm recognized in 1994 by the influential industry publication Inside PR as "Hottest Healthcare Agency."

Charlotte Region Hails Bold Plan to Establish Research Campus on Site of Former Textile Mill

Charlotte Region Hails Bold Plan to Establish Research Campus on Site of Former Textile Mill

Facility Seen As Economic Development Driver For Region And Across North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Charlotte Regional Partnership, which promotes the 16-county Charlotte region as the premier choice for businesses considering expansion or relocation, today hailed plans to build the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis on the site of the former Pillowtex textile plant.

The plans, announced Monday by industrialist David Murdock and state commerce and education officials, call for a cluster of world-class research centers focused on health and nutrition, as well as related initiatives to spur the economic transformation of a region that has been hit hard by the decline of traditional manufacturing industries such as textiles and furniture.

"The plans announced today are a major step in the diversification of our region's economy, which has been going on for many years," said Ronnie L. Bryant, president and CEO of the Charlotte Regional Partnership. "Manufacturing will always be an important contributor to the region's prosperity, but the growth of our knowledge-based economy will be critical to our ability to compete in the global marketplace in our lifetimes and our children's lifetimes."

Bryant pointed to other research initiatives currently under way, including the bioinformatics complex at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a motorsports testing and research complex currently being planned in conjunction with UNCC's motorsports engineering program.

"Research facilities like these are engines of economic development, providing a wide range of benefits from jobs to spin-off entrepreneurial businesses to the development of a highly trained and educated workforce," Bryant said. "For any city or region, such wellsprings of intellectual capital are an essential precondition to greatness."

Plans for the North Carolina Research Campus include a Dole-N.C. State Institute for Advanced Fruit and Vegetable Science, a Dole analytical lab, a UNC Nutrition Institute, an incubator for start-up companies, and a girls science high school, according to published reports.

Murdock, who owns Dole Food Co. and Castle & Cooke Inc. developers, recently announced plans to build a vegetable processing plant in Gaston County, also part of the 16-county Charlotte USA region.

"David Murdock's decision to bring hundreds of jobs here, and his vision for transforming a dying textile community, speak volumes about his commitment to Charlotte USA and his faith in the future of our region," Bryant said. "We share that faith and pledge our support in making that vision a reality."
